Services

A Life of My Own supports neurodivergent young adults with gaining confidence and skills to navigate their lives interdependently, and families who would like to empower their neurodivergent young adults towards those goals.

Coaching

At A Life of My Own (ALOMO) we offer one-on-one meetings for all our clients.  This allows us to create a personalized plan for each person we meet with. We offer these meetings over video, phone, or in-person -- whichever is more comfortable and productive for both the client and coach to make the best of their time together. The direction of each coaching session is always client-driven, meaning we don’t make goals for you, and instead help you to develop your own goals and figure out the steps to reach them.

Areas that our coaches specialize in include:

  • Career exploration, supported job searching, application process and interview support

  • Transitions support (high school to college, college to the workplace, career transitions, etc.)

  • Executive Functioning coaching using evidence-based practices

  • Finding Accommodations (educational and workplace) - assessing needs, advocacy, communication with third parties regarding accommodation needs

  • Aiding with college searching and college application process

  • Parent support and family meetings

  • Independent living skills (living on your own, cooking, cleaning, managing finances, etc.)

Family Consults

At ALOMO we believe in interdependence with our loved ones and support systems. All humans need support from their fellow humans!

We offer support for current or prospective clients, including people who have some questions about what’s going on with their neurodivergent (ADHD, autistic, etc.) family member, and how their family can best support them.

These consults can cover subjects such as:

  • Learning more about a specific topic related to a loved one’s neurodivergence

  • Getting support with building a support team for your neurodivergent family member (formal diagnosis not necessary, please contact us if you have questions!)

  • Strategizing how to move forward as one support team

  • Updating the ALOMO team about the client’s most recent barriers, asking for advice on how to work better with your loved one

Introductory Packages

It can be intimidating to start working with new members of your support team. We offer introductory packages at a reduced rate so that you can make sure it’s the right fit.

Introductory Packages

  • 1-hour meetings once per week for 4 weeks, with a follow-up support team* meeting at the end of the 4 weeks

  • 45-minute meetings once per week for 6 weeks, with a follow-up support team* meeting at the end of the 6 weeks

  • 1-hour meetings twice per week for 4 weeks, with a follow-up support team* meeting at the end of the 4 weeks

In our introductory series, coaches and clients collaborate together to form a more complete picture of the client and their barriers. This time is used to build and strengthen the relationship between client and coach as this is pivotal for continued work together. Once a picture is built the coach and client will create a game plan / road map by problem-solving as many possible routes for moving forward. At the end of the series we conduct a follow-up meeting with the client, their support people, and their coach / ALOMO staff. In this meeting we will review & explain the game plan before proceeding forward. We believe it is important to strengthen self-advocacy and communication with the support team when working towards one's goals.

*support team members are whoever the client chooses to include in support team meetings — parents, family members, other professionals, etc.
